The Museum was founded by the artist Pavlos Vrellis in February 1983. The building is constructed in the urban, fortress-type architectural style of the 18th-century Epirus, according to his own desings, without storeys but on a variety of distinct parallel and connecting levels. The visitor moves along mountains, houses, caves, churches, alleys, etc. following a non-circular but endlees course, ingeniously devised and arranged.

Thus, 24 centuries of Greek history (500 BC - 2000 AC), are presented through 37 themes related to various episodes, chosen by the artist himself.
