The sustainable development constitutes one of the most fundamental objectives of the European Union, but also a world challenge that our partners all over the planet have to face. It sets questions in relevance with how the economic development, the social cohesion, the equality of North and South and the protection of the environment can be compromised. Its importance is expressed in the Convention of the EU and is included in the Constitution, which asks the Union “to work for the sustainable development of Europe taking into consideration the balanced economic development and the stability of prices, the extremely competitive social economy of the market, aiming at the complete employment and the social progress, and the high level of protection and improvement of the quality of the environment”.
The Ministry of Agriculture is the institution of the materialization of the programmes of the EU, which aim, on the one hand, to enforce the new farmers, as far as the use of new technologies concerns for a more effective commercial exploitation of their exploitations, and on the other hand, by means of the new technologies, to offer to all the farmers essential support. The materialization of these projects will considerably contribute to the reduction of the isolation feeling of the rural population, to the acquisition with modern methods of production which will result in the improvement of the productivity and by extension, in the economic profit for the rural population. The Ministry of Agriculture also promotes the development of agro-tourism in mountainous, disadvantageous regions which have the basic substructure and the possibilities of tourist development, applying relative programmes according to which economic aids are given to the farmers for the realization of agro-tourist, agrobiotechnical activities in their agricultural exploitations.
